Green Boots

Yesterday Dylan tried on his new boots and his Dockers Komen Race for the Cure t-shirt. He continues to enjoy his tent. Those boots may come in handy, we are expecting rain tonight.

The Tent

This tent was purchased by my dad in 1992 or so for a backpacking trip we took. It was during my first year at UC Santa Cruz. It is a very nice tent and I used it quite a few times in my college years when I still thought camping was something other than sleeping at less than a 4 star hotel. The last time I pulled it out was for a YMCA travel camp that I was (gasp) a leader on in 1997. That trip was the last time I went camping. Lynda and I "tried" to go camping in 1998 I think and we did indeed end up in a Holiday Inn. So since then it has been in storage in a closet or attic. Lynda had the idea to bring it out on Sunday and we set it up on the back deck. It was still in excellent shape, I guess you get what you pay for (thanks Dad) and Dylan absolutely LOVES it. He thinks it is the most excellent little room just for him.

Maybe I will go camping again after all.

Steam Train- Photos!

Tilden Park- Steam Train!

We went to Tilden Park and rode the steam train this morning. We met up with our friends Brian and Van. They brought their dogs who also got to ride the train! Dylan really enjoyed the train and playing with the dogs. After we rode the train (twice) we had a picnic lunch. What a fun day!

Toddler Time!

Today we started a new session of Toddler Time at the Pacifica Community Center. It is a pre-pre-school class for 1.5-2.5 year olds where parents attend with the kids. The class starts with play time- Dylan LOVES the cars, trucks and, well, cars. All the kids play pretty independently, but Dylan did seem to enjoy the other kids in the class. He also did some painting on the easel and washed his hands several times- I think that might have been his favorite part. After play time, there was circle time where everyone gets introduced- it was entertaining trying to keep all the little ones in the circle. We sang songs and then had craft time- today the kids painted pictures. After craft time was snack time. Dylan put all his goldfish crackers in his apple juice, THEN tried to drink it. YUM! Miss Terry told a story about animals during snack time. After the snack and story, there was one more round of circle time and I think maybe the hokey pokey and then we were done for the day. I felt lucky to get to go with Lynda and Dylan this time, I took the morning off from work. I was pretty exhausted when it was all over-I needed to get back to work and rest! Dylan had fun and told us so as we walked to the car. What a great morning!
